Frost Valley YMCA and Town of Denning Team up to Provide Meals to Local Families
Frost Valley YMCA’s administration and dining services are preparing to partner with the town of Denning to support local families who require meal assistance. Several months ago, Supervisor David Brooks and Town Clerk Joy Monforte along with Councilmen Mike Dean, Paul Schoonmaker, Kevin Smith, and Greg Vurckio offered a confidential survey on the town website to be filled out by any residents interested in receiving meals through this program. Based on the responses, the group has decided to move forward with the free meal program.
Starting January 2016, participating families and individuals will be able to receive frozen meals from the Denning Town Hall. These meals will be delivered weekly on Wednesdays for participants to pick up. Deliveries may be an option for those with transportation issues.
Frost Valley YMCA, a year-round camp and retreat center in Claryville, will prepare the meals in its state-of-the-art kitchen and work with local volunteers who will help distribute the meals to the Town Hall.
Anyone interested in participating as a meal recipient OR volunteering for meal delivery can email email@example.com or call 985-2411 for more information
Supervisor David Brooks and Town Board would like to thank Frost Valley YMCA Director Jerry Huncosky and the dining services for their aid and support of the residents of the Town of Denning.
The False Alarm Reduction Act, which requires property owners to have a permit for alarm systems, goes into effect on January 1, 2016. Under the law, it is a violation for anyone to cause an alarm system to operate which results in a call to the Ulster County Sheriff, police officers, and other first responders, such as firefighters and emergency services, without a valid permit issued by the Ulster County Sheriff. A separate permit is required for each alarm system. An application fee of $10 applies. Click here to become familiar with this law.
